Tuesday: STP EXPANSION TO BE UNION!
The planned construction of two new reactors at the South Texas Nuclear Power Plant near Bay City will be done by union workers.
Fluor, the main contractor for the project, signed an agreement with the Building & Construction Trades Department of the AFL-CIO to provide union labor.
About 6,000 people will work up to 25 million hours to build the new units, which will provide 800 permanent jobs when complete.
Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #54 projects that there will be approximately 1200 sheet metal workers needed on this project, at least 600 of these will be certified welders.
