Welcome to the Sheet Metal Workers - Local 54 of Texas

The Officers of Sheet Metal Workers Local 54 welcome you to our website. Local 54 has represented hard working men and women since 1890, while at the same time improving the lives of our members and their families. Our jurisdiction covers 34 counties in Southeast Texas. We represent workers in the manufacturing industry who produce air distribution devices and accessories, such as grilles, diffusers, mixing boxes, terminal units, fire dampers and flexible duct. In addition, our building trades members fabricate and install a variety of sheet metal products in both the industrial and commercial setting.

Throughout our jurisdiction our members have worked on and successfully completed some of the most prominent construction projects such as the Houston Astrodome, Reliant Stadium, Toyota Center, Hilton Americas Downtown Hotel and the South Texas Nuclear Operating Facility. In addition, our members perform work at chemical plants, refineries, schools, churches, hospitals, prisons and commercial buildings.

Union sheet metal workers are the most knowledgeable and productive workers in America. We take pride in craftsmanship and it’s our work ethic and professionalism that makes us the most desirable workforce in the region.

Our state of the art training facilities are the finest in the industry and available to all indentured Apprentices, Journeypersons, Classified workers and Pre Apprentice Trainees all of which belong to LU# 54. Please go to Apprenticeship Training or Upgrade Training Programs for additional information.
